Though I never went
I know about the desert...
This painting was made during the Gulf War.
Feathers here serve imagination.
They create the wave-motion of sand, make one feel drought and fullness
of the desert.
They also express hope by figuring shrubs growing stubbornly...
Each drill has required splitting feathers to use only a few hairs to create motion.
